Waikato Draught was first brewed in the 1920's and has been the beer of the Waikato region ever since. Willie the Waiter, a cartoon character, is the brand's mascot and has grown to become an icon of the region. Waikato Draught was recently awarded a gold medal and won best in class in the NZ Draught beer category in the 2005 BrewNZ awards.
Waikato Draught has a strong malty flavour and a well-defined bitterness. It has a smooth and clean texture, and a hoppy and spicy aroma.
The bitterness of Waikato Draught refreshes the palete. The robust ale flavours are a good match with hearty meat and potato meals.
